Overview
The Olympic flame was lit at Morgedal, the birthplace region of skiing pioneer Sondre Norheim, the first winter flame in Games history. Host hero Hjalmar Andersen won three speed skating golds, and 30 nations marched. The main venue was the famous Bislett Stadion, renowned for its speed skating track.
