Montreal 1976 Summer Olympics
Montreal, Canada. Nadia Comaneci scored the first perfect 10 in Olympic history
Overview
Fourteen year old Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci received the first perfect 10 ever awarded, then six more in Montreal. More than twenty African nations boycotted after New Zealand, whose rugby team had toured apartheid South Africa, was allowed to compete. Construction delays and cost overruns left the city paying for its futuristic stadium, nicknamed the Big Owe, for three decades.
