Grenoble 1968 Winter Olympics
Grenoble, France. Jean Claude Killy swept alpine skiing before home crowds
Overview
Frenchman Jean Claude Killy matched Toni Sailer by winning all three alpine titles, surviving a slalom controversy that disqualified Austrian rival Karl Schranz. Live satellite broadcasts carried the Games to audiences worldwide, and doping controls appeared for the first time at a Winter Games. A cartoon character on skis, Schuss, became an unofficial mascot.
