Overview

The Winter Games were staged in the same year as the Summer Games for the final time; from 1994 they moved to the middle years of the decade. Some 64 nations attended, including a Unified Team of former Soviet republics. Short track and freestyle moguls became medal events, and Vegard Ulvang of Norway won three cross country golds.
