Staged just two years after Albertville under the new calendar, the Games became beloved for their wooden, low key Norwegian styling. Dan Jansen finally won the 1,000 meter speed skating gold in world record time, dedicating it to his late sister, and Johann Olav Koss took three golds, all in world records. The Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding saga gripped figure skating.
