Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics

Beijing, China. First city to stage both Summer and Winter Games

Overview

Beijing became the first dual host of Summer and Winter Games, reusing 2008 venues including the Bird Nest stadium for ceremonies. The Games ran inside a closed COVID 19 loop with almost no spectators and relied entirely on artificial snow. A doping case involving teenage skater Kamila Valieva overshadowed figure skating and led the sport to raise its minimum age.
