Paris 2024 Summer Olympics
Paris, France. Opening ceremony on the Seine and full gender parity for the first time
Overview
The first opening ceremony staged outside a stadium floated athletes down the Seine through the heart of Paris. For the first time the Games allocated as many quota places to women as to men. Breaking made its Olympic debut, and every medal contained a piece of iron from the Eiffel Tower. Paris joined London as a three time host after 1900 and 1924.
