Rio de Janeiro 2016 Summer Olympics
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. First Games in South America, with a Refugee Team marching
Overview
Ten refugee athletes marched under the Olympic flag for the first time, and 207 delegations attended. Golf returned after 112 years and rugby sevens debuted. Usain Bolt completed the triple treble, winning the 100, 200 and relay at three straight Games. Delays, green pools and the Zika virus shadowed the buildup, yet the competitions themselves thrilled.
