Lake Placid 1932 Winter Olympics
Lake Placid, USA. Pack style rules and the Eddie Eagan summer and winter double
Overview
The hosts ran speed skating in crowded pack format, angering many European specialists who withdrew. Eddie Eagan, the 1920 light heavyweight boxing champion, won four man bobsled gold and remains the only athlete to win gold at both Summer and Winter Games. The tiny Adirondack village of Lake Placid hosted 17 nations.
